π§ STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE
1οΈβ£ Remove the Old Handle
Unscrew the two fixing screws from the inside handle and pull both sides gently away from the door. Take care not to damage the lock cylinder underneath.
2οΈβ£ Measure the Screw and Spindle Centres
Measure the distance between the two fixing screws (usually 122mm or 211mm) and note the spindle length. Use these measurements to select the correct replacement handle.
3οΈβ£ Insert the Spindle and Align the New Handle
Insert the spindle into the lock mechanism and position the new handle over it. Ensure both sides line up with the fixing holes.
4οΈβ£ Tighten the Fixing Screws
Secure the handle by tightening the screws from the inside face. Donβt overtighten β this can cause the handle to bind or feel stiff.
5οΈβ£ Test Handle Movement
Check that the latch retracts smoothly when the handle is pressed and the lock engages properly when turned.
π‘ Pro Tip: Always replace both internal and external handles together for consistent colour and alignment.
