HOW TO LUBRICATE AND MAINTAIN DOOR MECHANISMS
Regular maintenance extends the life of your door’s locking system. Here’s how to clean, lubricate, and protect your multipoint mechanism for smooth and reliable operation.
🧰 TOOLS YOU’LL NEED
- 🧴 Silicone spray lubricant
- 🧽 Clean cloth
- 🪛 Phillips screwdriver
- ⚙️ Access to lock strip – Shop Multipoint Locks
🔧 STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE
1️⃣ Clean the Lock Strip
Open the door and wipe down the metal strip to remove dust and debris.
2️⃣ Apply Lubricant
Spray a small amount of silicone lubricant onto the latch, hooks, and moving parts. Avoid oil-based sprays.
3️⃣ Operate the Handle
Lift and lower the handle several times to distribute the lubricant evenly.
4️⃣ Wipe Off Excess
Use a clean cloth to remove excess spray, leaving only a thin protective layer.
💡 Pro Tip: Lubricate every six months — more often if the door is exposed to weather.
